Homeopathic
remedies are the natural choice for home health care for children. They are completely non-toxic and are
very effective for the multitude of infections that most children come down
with and most of them like to take the sweet little pellets typically used in
this form of natural medicine.
As a matter of fact, they like them so much that it is important to keep
remedies out of the reach of small children. Unlike many other over the counter medications, homeopathic
remedies will cause no harm even if a child swallows several bottles but you certainly would not like them
to deplete your homeopathic medicine kit.
To
those who are new to homeopathy, the idea of an illness being connected with an
emotional state may seem unusual.
This is, however, one of the very interesting aspects of
homeopathy. It's founder, Dr.
Samuel Hahnemann, realized almost 200 years ago that when we get ill we get ill
on the mental and emotional level as well as the physical level. In order to be effective, a remedy must
address all these changes or else it is incapable of truly healing the
person. Put another way,
homeopathy treats peole not diseases.
When we base the selection of a remedy on the total picture of the
suffering of an individual we are
able to affect the root cause of the disease. When the root cause is affected the immune system is stimulated and the disease is
totally eliminated. There are no
side effects and lingering
exhaustion. Any parent who has
seen homeopathy work on his or her child knows how satisfying it can be to see
the result of giving the correct remedy.
Our
remedies must be carefully selected because only the one which is the match to
the child and his/her symptoms will work.
If we select the wrong remedy nothing will happen. This phenomenon can be compared to
finding the right key to open a door.
If we have the right key it is easy to unlock the door, the wrong key
will do nothing. When we study
homeopathic remedies we create a picture or story out of the known major characteristics
of a remedy. This makes learning a
remedy easier and helps us to identify when a person is in need of a particular
remedy.
The
following is a remedy picture of Pulsatilla in children. Of the hundreds of
remedies which can be helpful for the treatment of childhood infections,
Pulsatilla is one of the most commonly used.
The child who needs this remedy desires
a lot of company. he wants to be
held and cuddled and kissed all the time.
Even if he is not feeling well, this kind of attention makes him feel
better. The child is thirstless,
feels better in the open air and moving around slowly. He cries easily and often feels lonely
and abandoned when he is not around his parents. His moods, as well as his
physical symptoms are very changeable If there is a discharge from the nose it
is often yellow, thick and bland.
If you see this picture in a child, it doesn't matter if the problem is
a flu, cold, earache or sore throat, Pulsatilla will help the child get over
the infection.
