Benefits of Homeopathic Treatment for Children

Jane Tara Cicchetti, RSHom (NA), CCH

In this article I would like to address the benefits of homeopathic treatment for children and why it is particularly important at this time. Why it is important for as many people as possible to benefit from this effective non-toxic form of natural health care.

It is normal for young children to get colds and other infectious diseases, but their immune systems should be able to fight these off, getting stronger and stronger in the process.  Unfortunately, the reverse is true.  It is not unusual today to see children who are constantly treated with antibiotics for ear infections, sore throats and other infectious diseases.  They have lost the ability to fight off disease on their own. Possible reasons for this may be poor diet, pollution, and the immuno-suppressant effects of the medications themselves.

Another problem is that antibiotics are not working the way they used to.

Germs are becoming immune to most antibiotics.  Often what we think are many infections is simply an infection that has never totally responded to the antibiotics a child has been given.

How do we break this downward spiral of degenerating health in our children?  One way is to have working knowledge of homeopathy.  Understanding this gentle healing system empowers parents by giving them effective ways to treat infectious diseases before they get out of hand.  Homeopathic remedies are completely safe and non-toxic and work by stimulating the immune system so that the body can throw off disease effectively.

Good homeopathic education also helps a parent to understand the effects of poor diet and environment on the child.  It encourages living a healthy life style and acknowledges that health must exist on the mental and emotional level as well as the physical level.    With this knowledge, parents can more easily understand the dynamics of health and disease and act accordingly.  The whole family becomes generally healthier when these guidelines are followed.  When a few problems do occur, then they can be treated with effective, natural remedies that really work.

If, in spite of all of this a child is still getting many illnesses, constitutional homeopathic treatment by a homeopath can often improve her health.  This form of treatment is like a general tonic for the child, improving the immune system and generally creating greater balance. Children on successful constitutional treatment get fewer and lighter infectious diseases, usually fighting these off on their own with not need of treatment at all.

Even if a child is under the care of a homeopath, a good understanding of homeopathy is useful.  This empowers the parent and allows them to make wise decisions in their child’s health care.
